Our Eleuthera, Bahamas Adventure

For our 2016 vacation we went to Eleuthera, a small island about 90 miles east of Nassau. This was my first time in an airplane, and since everyone was scared-to-death to fly, we actually drove all the way to Fort Lauderdale in order to shorten our plane ride. (note: never drive that far again and Mom and Dad agree).

Once on Eleuthera, we rented a car at the airport in north Eleuthera and drove down to our rental aka, The Buttonwood. That night, we bought some food at the local food store and checked in to our condo which was beautiful and spacious.

Most of our time was spent at Rainbow Beach which is very secluded and relaxing. We did ton’s of snorkeling and seen many different types of colorful fish that looked like they came from the pet store! We found Rainbow Beach on one of the local guides and it turned out to be one of the best beaches on all of Eleuthera. You can walk out to 250′ before the water is over your head and no matter how far you go out, you can still see right to the bottom. The coral has thousands of fish and plant life and you feel like you are in one of those Discovery Channel documentaries.

Me Near a Small Island Off Rainbow Beach https://youtu.be/ETZxUXQJ-1Y

This beach below is called ‘Gaulding Cay Beach’ and it is near a spot called the ‘Glass Window’. The window is a very thin stretch of land where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean and the contrast between the two waters really stands out. The glass window is really beautiful and a must see when at the island. And, we seen it 🙂Gaulding Cay Beach, eleuthera
